Sunrise House is a National Historic Site of Canada. George Munro was born in Scotland in 1829 and came to Canada in 1847. He worked as a farmer and landowner and served as the first Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick. In 1861, he married Flora Fraser and they moved to Mollymook. The Munros were avid anglers and hunters, and Sunrise House is decorated with hunting trophies from their trips abroad. The Munros lived at Sunrise House until their deaths in 1912 and 1916, respectively.
