The Multiverse Saga Pushed Back
Due to the pandemic in 2020 and Hollywood strikes in 2023, Disney has had to shuffle around the release dates of its upcoming Marvel Studios movies and Disney+ shows. As a result, the entire Multiverse Saga has been pushed back by at least a year. We will continue to update this page as new projects are announced, but for now, here’s the full list of upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and shows with release dates.
The Watcher Returns in Season 2 of "What If…?"
The Watcher, voiced by Jeffrey Wright, takes us on another tour through the multiverse in season 2 of "What If…?". Familiar heroes and villains will appear as variants, leading unfamiliar lives in alternate realities. Season 2 will consist of nine episodes, with some of the live-action actors voicing their characters.
Maya Lopez Takes on Kingpin in "Echo"
Former Tracksuit Mafia boss Maya Lopez, played by Alaqua Cox, is on the run from Kingpin's criminal empire after the events of Hawkeye. However, she can only run for so long before confronting her past. "Echo" is not only Marvel's first TV-MA series for Disney+, but it's also the first show under the Marvel Spotlight banner.
Deadpool Joins the MCU in "Deadpool 3"
Finally, Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, is joining the MCU. While not much is known about the plot of "Deadpool 3," it has been confirmed that Deadpool will team up with Wolverine, portrayed by Hugh Jackman.
Sam Wilson Becomes the New Captain America in "Captain America 4"
With Steve Rogers retired, Sam Wilson, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, takes up the shield as the new Captain America. Tim Blake Nelson will reprise his role as Samuel Sterns, and Harrison Ford will replace the late William Hurt as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.
The Fantastic Four Debut in the MCU
The long-awaited debut of the Fantastic Four in the MCU is set for 2025. Pedro Pascal has reportedly signed on to play Reed Richards, but the rest of the cast remains a mystery. This movie will likely lay the groundwork for the finale of the Multiverse Saga.
Supervillains Unite in "Thunderbolts"
In "Thunderbolts," CIA director Val, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, recruits a group of reformed and semi-reformed supervillains for government missions. The team includes Bucky Barnes, Red Guardians, Yelena Belova, U.S. Agent, Taskmaster, and more.

Mahershala Ali Returns as Blade
Mahershala Ali, known for his role as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes in Luke Cage, is coming back to the MCU as the title character in "Blade." Although the reboot has faced its fair share of troubles, it is currently on track for release in the middle of Phase 6.
The Avengers Assemble Once Again in "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty"
After seven years since their last assembly, the Avengers are reforming in "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty." Jonathan Majors is set to star as the titular villain, but casting may change before filming begins. The lineup of the new Avengers team is still unknown.
The Multiversal War in "Secret Wars"
In the upcoming "Secret Wars," the multiverse as we know it may come to an end, just as it did in the comics. Marvel has kept the details under wraps, but rumors suggest that characters from various Marvel movies, including the X-Men films and Spider-Man trilogy, will be involved. The question remains: how many of them will survive the multiversal war?
These movies and shows have been officially announced but do not have release dates yet. As soon as we have more information, we will update the list above.
