Belgian Photographer Willy Vanderperre Returns to Prada for Holiday 2023 Campaign

Star-Studded Cast and Prada-Filled Galaxy
Willy Vanderperre, a favorite of designer Raf Simons, has made his official return to Prada. The Belgian photographer, who has known Simons since their childhood in Antwerp, recently shot the brand's Fall 2023 campaign and is now back to capture the Holiday 2023 campaign. The luxury Italian fashion label's current co-creative directors, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, have assembled a star-studded cast of actors including Maya Hawke, Kim Tae-Ri, Damson Idris, and Louis Partridge to front the campaign. The series of images transports viewers to a Prada-filled galaxy, leaving us longing for a one-way ticket.
Forum Users Not Impressed
While Prada fans were excited to see Vanderperre's return, some members of theFashionSpot forums weren't sold on the end result. One user, 90sFan, exclaimed, "NO! OMG, NO! Are you sure this is a Prada advertising campaign and not a Tatler Christmas special circa 2016? What a horrific campaign." Another user, aracic, sighed, "From one of the most beautiful advertising campaigns ever to be seen in fashion, for which someone nearly died to get the right shot, to whatever this is. Sometimes I wish I could just disconnect from contemporary fashion and revel in the past." MModa added, "The first image with Maya Hawke makes me think of photos I’ve seen in Macy’s or Lord & Taylor holiday catalogs!"
Critiques of Holiday Campaigns and Prada's Sales Success
Urban Stylin questioned, "Why do the holiday campaigns always look cheap?" FiLeReD chimed in, "They all look very stiff and uncomfortable. It’s a mystery to me how Prada has managed to increase its sales lately with mostly hot air." Despite the criticism, Prada's Holiday 2023 campaign continues to generate conversation and debate.
