Unimpressed Fans

Vogue Japan has received backlash from fans after unveiling their December 2023 cover. The cover features models Abény Nhial and Mary Ukech in looks from Miu Miu's Fall 2023 collection, photographed by Hugo Comte and styled by Patti Wilson. However, members of theFashionSpot forums expressed their disappointment, calling the photography, styling, and wigs "awful" and "cheap."

A Blast from the Past

Fans long for the days when Luigi & Iango were behind the camera, capturing every cover with a selection of supermodels. Since Tiffany Godoy took over as head of editorial content, the covers have failed to impress, with the exception of the October cover featuring Mona Tougaard. Users on theFashionSpot forums believe that Vogue Japan is capable of so much more.

90s RnB Vibes

One user compared the December cover to a 90s RnB album cover, but not one from a major label group. They described it as more fitting for a girl duo that had limited funds for a photoshoot and ended up selling their debut album for a bargain price years later.
