I started taking the time to write about the things I loved – how I was using technology to change the way I lived, and how it was helping me connect with people around the world. It felt like there were so many people out there who could benefit from learning about these amazing advances in technology, so I decided to make Technoblade my personal mission.
Since then, Technoblade has grown into something much bigger than just a blog. It’s now become an essential part of my life, and I couldn’t be happier with the way everything has turned out.
Technoblade’s Early Days
The Technoblade story of how it all began can be traced back to 2007 when the first incarnation of the website was launched. Back then, there were a limited number of technology-focused blogs and very few people who were interested in technology. In fact, there wasn’t even a word for “technology” in the English language.
So how did Technoblade get started?
It all started with one guy: John A. Macdonald. John was always interested in technology and he wanted to share his knowledge with others. He started writing about technology on his personal blog, which evolved into The Technoblade over time.
The Technoblade quickly became popular due to its comprehensive coverage of tech news and trends, as well as its willingness to explore new topics and discuss controversial matters. John’s passion for technology was evident in everything he wrote, and it was this spirit that helped The Technoblade grow into what it is today: a leading source for tech news and information.

In 2002, the idea for The Technoblade began to form in the mind of founding editor-in-chief, Sean Buckley. Buckley was a journalist who had taken a shine to technology and its potential to change the world. As he explored the intersection of technology and journalism more deeply, he realized that there was an opportunity to create a publication that would look beyond the typical tech trend stories and focus on the big picture, examining how technology was impacting society at large.
Buckley approached a few trusted friends about starting The Technoblade, but no one wanted to take on such a daunting task. He persisted, however, and eventually garnered enough support from his colleagues to begin publication in early 2003. Initially, The Technoblade focused exclusively on covering business news and technology trends. But as the magazine grew in popularity and readership, Buckley changed course and began publishing longform pieces about topics like globalization, social media, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI),3and 5G. These thoughtful examinations of how technology was shaping our future helped make The Technoblade one of Canada’s leading journalism outlets.
Now entering its tenth anniversary year, The Technoblade continues to be an important source of news and commentary on issues affecting our rapidly changing technological landscape.
